Great Helmet, but no Perfect
August 2, 2013
Great in every way but it does have one serious flaw. The flaw is with the headgear. It absolutely WILL NOT stay up. I don't know how Miller didn't see this or they didn't care but after a weld, you lift your helmet up it falls back down every time. I have 3 other co-workers with same helmet, with same issue. Very disappointing in that regard. All else is great but having your helmet fall down constantly is annoying. Please keep this in mind when dropping 3 bills on a "top-of-the-line" product.
Pros
  • everything but the headgear is high quality and well thought out
Cons
  • head gear/helmet absolutely will not stay up no matter what position it is set to

This is my first hood after borrowing my brother's older Miller Elite model for a month or so. So I'm lacking in experience but my only current gripe is that the hood doesn't stay up as well as the one I got used to using.
Pros
  • It works. I personally don't use the extra modes provided because it would slow me down in my work. I guess it's nice to have though.
Cons
  • The helmet falls down a bit too easy in my opinion even when fully tightened.

It's a really nice hood other than the fact it doesn't stay up very well. I just learned to start working with it down now.

One Fine Welding Helmet
May 27, 2013
I am a welding student at Washtenaw Community College in Michigan. I had been using school supplied helmets for a while and didn't think I would ever get used to not being able to see what I am doing and being very uncomfortable with the weight and poor fit adjust-ability. I decided to make an investment in what I hoped would be a high quality helmet. CyberWeld's cost was just a bit more than the textbook I needed to buy for my first semester so I was very pleased with the pricing. The helmet turned out to be fantastic! Well worth the investment. Very light weight and fit adjustments went way beyond my expectations. Field of view and response to an arc certainly deserve the 5 star rating. I have no problem wearing the helmet for all of the 6 hour long summer semester classes.
Pros
  • Light weight, large field of view, Great fit adjustments, very responsive

Finally purchased a Miller Digital Elite Helmet
May 1, 2013
Since seeing, and using one to try, I always wanted to get a Miller Digital Elite helmet. I'm not disappointed, and really like the way it fits and responds. I have a large size head, and most of the lower priced helmets just don't fit as well as the Miller headgear. The response of the lens is great too. Only a week since using, but so far no flashes with this yet.
Pros
  • Headgear for me!

New welders best resource
April 17, 2013
As a beginning MIG welder, I need to do a lot of research to find the appropriate equipment and information. This helmet is really great , as Miller stuff is in general. It has a lot of features that make me comfortable and efficient. Being able to add magnification is a help for tiny welds. Getting it for a great price, compared to other sites, was a real bonus. Can't say enough about the products and service from CyberWeld. Really saves me from making errors that will cost me time, money and finished results.
Pros
  • Really helped a newbie like me........

No overhead welding with this hood.
March 27, 2013
Once I got the hood, there is a sticker inside that says no to use this hood for overhead welding. WTF! If It said that in the description, I would have kept looking for a different hood. I expect a welding hood to work in all positions. I bought it to replace a Jackson eqc that went swimming. The main reason I chose this hood was the ease of lens change. and x mode. Guess the lens cover being clipped on from the outside allows sparks to burn through in the overhead position. I already bought it, no time to exchange. I will use it for all positions, and report back with my findings.
Pros
  • x mode
Cons
  • Not for overhead position.

Super comfortable
March 25, 2013
I am by no means a professional welder but I wanted something that I could wear and not have the urge to take it off in between welds. The head gear on this unit is vastly superior to anything else I tried on. Naturally the auto darkening works perfect but you would expect that from Miller (especially at this price point).
Pros
  • Comfort
Cons
  • Nothing

Miller Digital Elite Welding Helment
March 9, 2013
This helment is a vast improvement over my previous hood. I can see the weld pool much better and there is no "filckering of the auto-darkening that drove me crazy on my other hood.
Pros
  • The auto doarkenig lens system is top notch. The headband is the most comfortable I have ever worn.
Cons
  • It is a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for.

Miller goes cheap
January 16, 2013
Although I like the size of the window, the fit and finish of the helmet seem really cheap. The thickness of the plastic is very thin. the whole helmet distorts and flexes. I had ordered 2 of them, and one arrived with dead batteries. I called Cyberweld and they immediately sent out replacements.
Pros
  • The size of the window(view screen).
Cons
  • The overall feel of it, I am concerned about it's durability.

Great auto-darkening components, ok helmet
January 5, 2013
It's easy to use and the circuitry is excellent overall. I especially like its quick-triggering RF/EMI detect mode. Low amp tig at odd angles is no problem at all for this helmet. It's comfortable once adjusted but there's nothing spectacular at all about the band/strap arrangement. The plastic looks and feels like the cheap stuff found the back strap of gas-station hats. The helmet itself is made of a durable material. The back glare is terrible. There's not enough back-sweep on the helmet shape to keep even overhead lights out of your eyes. The lens is really soft. Soft cotton will streak-scratch it, which is totally unacceptable in the age of polycarbonates. Buy aftermarket covers! THERE IS NO INNER PROTECTIVE COVER FOR THE LENS ASSEMBLY. Wipe off nose oil once and you've scratched the expensive part. It looks like there's a slot for what should be an anti-glare coated protective lens I can't find anywhere.
Pros
  • Quick to darken and an excellent range of darkening.
  • The RF detect feature works very well.
Cons
  • Protective lenses are inexcusably soft. Headband is made of the wrong plastic for any sort of longevity. Miller went cheap on the cheap stuff on their "elite" helmet.

Miller Auto Darkening Welding Helmet - Digital Elite
October 9, 2012
Been TIG welding for 35 years using a standard welding helmet with replaceable lens shades. Decided that I wanted to try an autodarkening helmet. After researching different models from $50.00 to $400.00 I decided to go with the Digital Elite. Having the ability to see your torch/rod position before you light up is a HUGH advantage. Epecially when you are tack welding with TIG or MIG. Having the ability to change the lens density instantly with the push of a button is also a great time saver. The X mode on the Elite is a good feature if you weld in positions that may shield the arc sensors. Also it seems to be more responsive at low currents. Never been flashed. All the features work as they should. I will never go back. Always remember, Freedom is NOT free. God Bless America
Pros
  • Light weight. Very comfortable head gear. Large view area. Works perfectly.
Cons
  • Non standard replacement protective clear lens.
  • Non standard replacement batterys.
  • For me this is a small issue.

Miller Welding Helmet Digital Elite
July 16, 2012
I am new to welding but absolutely love this helmet. It is amazing how fast it reacts to the arc. What I really like is that I am able to experiment with the darkness of the lens by simply pushing a button. I found that at a 10 lens I could not see what I was welding. Nine was better but still not good enough. At eight I could see much better without any strain on my eyes from the arc.
Pros
  • Works exactly as advertised.
  • Light weight.
  • Well made.
Cons
  • none

This was the best price I found and it also had a 3 year warranty where as all the other ones I looked at only had a 2 year warrant.
