Another awsome miller welder
November 28, 2021
The 141 is a top of the line 110 volt welder. I have used 3 other 110 welders and the miller is by far the best. The Auto set feature takes all the guess work out of welding different thickness metals and I found it to be spot on for the metals I welded. 5 stars Miller
Pros
  • Auto set
Cons
  • None that I found

Disappointed
January 31, 2020
After a week of owning a new Miller 141; I happily switched back to my 10 year old Hobart 125 Handler. I was a welder by trade for many years and now I restore classic cars as a hobby. I have welded miles of mig wire installing floor boards, body panels, inner panels, and repairing sheet metal. I started a new project, and decided to buy a nice welder that offers infinite adjustment for welding 22-24 gauge metal. I chose Miller because of past experience welding with a Miller mig, brand reputation, and positive reviews. I was expecting great performance. I am very disappointed with the performance of the 141 when tack/plug welding and stitch welding of 22 gauge automotive sheet metal. The welding surfaces that I am welding are clean of rust or paint. When I pull the trigger the mig wire starts out slowly and balls up, and does not fully penetrate. My setup is .024 wire, 75% argon, 25% CO2. I have tried the auto set feature for 24 and 22 gauge/.024 wire, and manual settings. I spoke with Miller Tech support and they described the smooth start feature as ramping up the wire speed for 3 seconds after pulling the trigger. I believe this is causing my issues. Miller tech support said there was no way to disable this feature. Even when I hold the trigger for longer than 3 seconds the wire is balling up and dripping. I have tried the manual setting without much better results. I have attempted welding with the voltage set at 1, 2 and 2.5 and the wire speed set from 40 to 50. The wire either balls up or burns through the metal. The person I spoke with at Miller basically told me too bad & and that the welder is working as designed. Cyberweld told me that since I used the welder it could not be returned for a refund. The advertised application mentions auto/body I am not able to get smooth plug or stitch welds on automotive metal. Holding the trigger for 3 seconds to get consistent wire speed will warp the metal. At least I still have my Hobart to weld with, while my nice looking Blue Miller 141 is collecting dust in the corner of my garage.
Pros
  • Miller brand.
Cons
  • Smooth start feature is not good for tack/plug welding or stitch welding.
  • Difficult to weld 22 and 24 gauge without burn through or wire balling up.
  • My experience with using this welder for auto/body as advertised under application is that it is not a good choice for this purpose.

Great addition to my shop

Use this welder just for sheet metal , using .023. Leave my other welder set up for welding thicker material. Typical Miller quality, would recommend for sheet metal work. Only thing that I don't care for is the rear mounted on / off switch.
Pros
  • Typical Miller quality. Easy to use.
Cons
  • Goofy place for the on/off switch.

Millermatic 141

Ordered online Sunday evening from Cyberweld and received welder shortly after noon Wednesday. Great service! Welder arrived in perfect shape. I set it up and tried it out. Very satisfied with autoset and manual. The Badger SM-100 spoolgun that I own plugged in and worked without a problem. This is not my first mig welder but should be my last.

Works great!

I bought this to weld compliment my Millermatic 211 and I use it outdoors exclusively outdoors with flux core wire. I had been using a Norther Tools 135 and this thing outshines my old welder in every way. It is just basically better and I weld better with it. The auto set is nice as well.
Pros
  • Autoset feature works well for us novice types, but I like how the dials are infinitely adjustable as well. It allows you to really fine tune the wire speed and power settings.
Cons
  • I guess price might be a con, but this is a Miller and quality costs. I got mine with a rebate which brought the price to within a couple hundred of a similar Hobart. After buying my 211, I didn't think twice about spending the extra money for the 141. It didn't come with flux core tips but CyberWeld sells them as well. Be forewarned that they are not expensive but it took a while for them to be delivered. It's the same MIG gun as my 211 so I use the MIG tip on it. Win!

Steady arc & perfect bead, right out of the box
August 19, 2015
I acquired the MM-141 for relatively light fabrication work in a small shop, and it's been a real champ. The only open circuit we have for this unit is a 20 amp, so our previous 110 welder had trouble maintaining a steady arc and tripped the breaker all the time. The 141 on the other hand has been perfect from day one; the arc is strong and steady. The build quality is also much better than previous gen MMs, such as the 135 or 140. We took it out of the box, hooked up the gas, loaded the wire, plugged it in, and bam: perfect weld. Didn't even need to dial it in.
Pros
  • Solid build quality. Rock steady arc. Dead simple set up. Even works on a 20 amp circuit. Easy to carry, which is a nice bonus.
Cons
  • None yet.
