Nice Little Welder
July 6, 2019
I already have a Hobart Handler 210MVP and wanted a stick welder for outside and dirty jobs. So far I've only laid a few bead with it. I've run several test beads using 6011, 6013, 7014 and 7018 rods of various sizes (5/64, 3/32 and 1/8) and it ran all of them perfectly. So far I'm very pleased with it. I looked at the 160i initially, but wanted the extra power the 210i provides. I just wish the 210i was multi voltage like the 160i.
Pros
  • Lightweight and portable
  • Simple controls
  • Small and easy to store
Cons
  • Limited to 240 volts

Good Little Welder
June 1, 2019
Haven't used it a whole lot yet other then making some practice beads. Seems to do well on 1/4 steel with a 1/8 rod. What few scrap pieces I did weld stayed together. Need more practice and use to tell how well it does in the long run.
Pros
  • Good welds! Says will weld up to 1/2. Duty cycle seems to hold up well! Small compact size! Easy to set up and use!
Cons
  • Made in China! Parts seem cheaply made. Not sure how long they will hold up. Considering replacing the ground clamp with a better one. Ground clamp has no copper on it. HF just came out with a stick welder comparable to this one at half the price. Its made in China so its seems as if you're mostly just paying for the Hobart name. But you do get the Hobart 5/3/1 warranty along with it. So??

This machine I bought is just as good as the Miller equivalent at a much lower cost. Great machine to start out with

Solid Machine
February 20, 2018
After much research and trying out a couple of different machines I'm glad I chose this rig. Has a smooth arc, and will fit the bill for any small fab, hobbyist, farm or agricultural setting, or light to medium repair shop setting. With the ability to reach 210 amps, you can really crank it up and weld some heavy materials. Compared to some other machines I've used, the "Hot start" functionality, makes rod sticks a thing of the past. I'm currently welding on a project using 1/4 mild plate and this thing hasn't missed a beat yet. I've thrown 5 lbs of 1/8th 6011, 7018, and 6013. So far, no issues with any of those rods. I haven't had a chance to use 6010 yet, so I can't speak to it's ability on it, but the above rods I've listed work smooth as heck. Did I mention that this thing can be carried with a shoulder strap? Yeah, it's that light. Also, for the normal operator, if you keep this thing below 90ish amps, you will never hit the duty cycle on it. So far, for the couple of hours I've welded on it, I've yet to see the overheat warning light come on, unless I've pushed it above that range. In summary, if you're on the fence because this is "new" tech, and not an old transformer based model like the ones we've grown accustomed to, pull the trigger on this purchase and don't look back.
Pros
  • * "Hot Start" rocks
  • * Extremely light and portable
  • * Solid performance for any small fab, hobbyist, farm or agricultural setting, or light to medium repair shop setting.
  • * Infinitely adjustable amperage setting
  • * Literally only one knob to adjust. Set and go,
  • * Utilized dinse connector for ground clamp and electrode holder.
  • * Smooth arc so I can hear that bacon sizzle!
Cons
  • Would be nice if the leads were a bit longer. 10 ft is a great start, but 15 ft would probably have been the sweet spot. Also, the amperage knob could be improved if it was a bit bigger to see more precise amperage settings.

Hobart 210i DC Welder
February 1, 2018
This little DC welder works great! Especially after using an AC stick welder for years. This DC is much easier to start even with a new rod. I should have bought this years ago!

Works as advertised
December 14, 2017
I found this machine to work pretty much as advertised. My only slight disappointment is the % of time one can weld versus waiting for the unit to "rest". I understand that there is a slight trade off with the size & portability of the unit and the ability to weld as long as I want.
Pros
  • + size
  • + portability
Cons
  • - time one can weld versus letting the unit "rest" to cool down

Awesome little welder
November 24, 2017
I've had a 110v wirefeed for several years, and always found myself needing to weld material just beyond its limitations. I started looking at a 220v wirefeed but at twice the cost or more than the 210i. It has been an awesome and very impressive welding so far. Highly recommended for anyones home arsenal.
Pros
  • Weld up to 1/2 inch material like a champ
  • Light weight
  • Great warranty
Cons
  • None yet

Unbelevable welder
November 9, 2017
Unbelievable smooth steady arc. Strikes easy and once established you can almost just drag the rod. Excellent for a beginner and convenient for a seasoned welder to carry around. The leads weigh more then the power supply. Overall i love this little machine.
Pros
  • Weight
  • Dense connectors
  • Easy set up
Cons
  • To be competitive it is imported.
